Terence Crawford wrote himself into the history books at Allegiant Stadium, outboxing Canelo Alvarez over twelve rounds to become undisputed super middleweight champion and the first male fighter ever to win undisputed titles in three separate weight classes.
The scorecards read 116-112 and 115-113 twice, all in Crawford’s favour, in front of a sold-out Las Vegas crowd that had come to see whether a fighter moving up two full weight divisions could really compete with one of the sport’s defining champions. He could, comfortably.

Crawford, already undisputed at both lightweight and welterweight earlier in his career, spent the fight doing exactly what he does best: controlling range, switching stances, and picking his moments to land the cleaner, sharper work. Canelo, fighting as the naturally bigger man for the first time in years, pressed but rarely landed cleanly enough to change the complexion of the fight, and by the midpoint the scorecards were already tilting decisively away from him.
“This is what greatness looks like. Canelo is a legend, but tonight was my night. I came to make history,” Crawford said afterwards, with little argument from ringside.
Canelo gracious, but honest, in defeat
Alvarez did not look for excuses. “He was the better man tonight. He’s a great fighter, very smart, very quick. I have no excuses,” he said, a rare and candid admission from a fighter who has rarely been outclassed so clearly at 168lbs.
A result that reshapes the pound-for-pound conversation
Winning undisputed status across three weight classes puts Crawford in territory no male boxer has previously reached, and the win instantly moves him to the top of most pound-for-pound lists. For Canelo, the defeat raises real questions about what comes next at 35, after building super middleweight into effectively his own division for the best part of a decade. For Crawford, the only debate now is what’s left to prove, and which direction he goes looking for it.
