Report: Training Footage Ignites UFC Return Talk

Khabib Nurmagomedov Shares New Training Footage Amid Conor McGregor’s UFC Callout

Khabib Nurmagomedov’s Intense Training Resurfaces Amid McGregor Callout

In a move that has reignited fervour among MMA fans, UFC legend Khabib Nurmagomedov has shared a new training video on social media, showcasing his unwavering dedication to fitness. The footage, posted yesterday, features ‘The Eagle’ immersed in a rigorous workout session, including pushups and heavy bag punching. This glimpse into his training regime has sparked fresh discussions and comparisons with his long-time rival, Conor McGregor.

Nurmagomedov, currently part of Islam Makhachev’s camp ahead of Makhachev’s title defence against Dustin Poirier, captioned the video: “Personal example is the best motivation. I love this energy.” The post quickly drew a wave of comments from fans, with one noting, “Dude trains harder in retirement than Conor in camp,” and another adding, “He still can come out of retirement and beat the s*** out of Conor.”

Despite his adamant stance on retirement since his 2020 victory over Justin Gaethje at UFC 254, fans continue to hope that the 35-year-old Russian star might reconsider and return to the UFC.

Conor McGregor Fuels Rumours of Nurmagomedov’s Return

Conor McGregor, undeterred by Khabib Nurmagomedov’s retirement vow, has persistently pushed for a rematch following their infamous clash at UFC 229, where Nurmagomedov triumphed with a fourth-round submission. McGregor, set to fight at UFC 303 on June 29, recently reignited speculation about Nurmagomedov’s potential return to the octagon.

During a Duelbits live stream on Kick, McGregor suggested that Nurmagomedov’s alleged tax issues could compel him to re-enter the UFC. “That’s typical rat behaviour,” McGregor remarked. “So, he has bills to pay. ‘Fight for legacy’? Two main events or something he has in the UFC and he owes his b***s to the Russian government. So, he’s going to pay his fin’ money that he owes instead of siphoning it out through to other countries. We all will welcome him back into the fight game where he’s ran from.”

Heated Rivalry Continues to Simmer

McGregor didn’t stop at financial jibes, referring to Nurmagomedov as “the fat rat,” and expressed keen anticipation to see how the situation unfolds. These provocative comments have only added more heat to their ongoing rivalry. Despite McGregor’s taunts and the swirling rumours about a potential comeback, Nurmagomedov has remained silent, leaving fans to fantasise about a possible rematch.

The rivalry between these two MMA giants has captivated the sport’s audience since UFC 229, which remains the highest-grossing event in MMA history. Should a rematch become feasible, it is certain that organisers would seize the opportunity. However, the road to such a bout is fraught with uncertainty, particularly with McGregor first needing to face Michael Chandler at UFC 303 on June 29.

Fans Eagerly Anticipate Future Developments

As the MMA community eagerly awaits these upcoming bouts, the question of whether Nurmagomedov will step back into the octagon looms large. His recent training footage serves as a reminder of his enduring prowess and the tantalising prospect of his return. While the future remains uncertain, the legacy of their rivalry continues to fuel the imaginations of fans worldwide.
