Ramirez Clinches WBA (Super) Cruiserweight Title
A Unanimous Victory in California
In a masterful display of boxing finesse, Mexico’s Gilberto Ramirez secured the WBA (Super) cruiserweight title, triumphing over France’s Arsen Goulamirian with a unanimous points victory in California. This bout marked a pivotal moment in both fighters’ careers, with Goulamirian experiencing his first defeat in a professional career spanning 28 fights.
Goulamirian’s Reign Ends
Goulamirian, who had held the prestigious cruiserweight belt since 2018, faced his fifth title defense against Ramirez. However, his undefeated streak came to an end as all three judges at the YouTube Theater in Inglewood overwhelmingly scored the fight 118-110 in favor of Ramirez.
Ramirez’s Record and Comeback
This victory not only earned Ramirez the title but also extended his impressive record to 46 wins against a single defeat. His sole loss occurred in a WBA world light-heavyweight title match against Russia’s Dmitry Bivol in May 2022. Goulamirian, despite his loss, had not stepped into the ring since November 2022, marking his return with this significant bout.
